Capsicum chinense (Paprika) Biquinho
Capsicum chinense (Paprika) Biquinho
Drop-shaped, small pepper specialty from Brazil.
Spicy but not sharp, the small, clearly pointed fruits make a delicious snack or addition to a salad.
Also pickled in vinegar and preserved so well, a specialty.
The fruits, which are approximately 2.5 -3 cm small, turn from green to red.
The yield is very good if the cultivation starts early.
Biquinho Red is also a good container plant.
Sowing from February to March at 22-24 °C, planting out from mid-May at a distance of 40 x 60 cm. Harvest from mid-August.
Always keep evenly moist, but not too wet. Fertilize regularly and use humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil. Peppers need warmth. Best location: full sun facing south or in a foil greenhouse.
Peppers are sensitive to frost.
The plants of Capsicum chinense can be overwintered in a bright, frost-free place and produce earlier and much more abundantly the following year.
Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
