Cucurbita maxima Atlantic Giant “Competition strain”

Selection selected for weight.

This selection is not called “Competition Strain” for nothing. It is a selection of individual specimens with a weight potential of over 400 kg.

Atlantic Giant are genetically flexible, which is why the color of the fruits varies from greenish-white to bright orange.

Plants of this variety require at least 10 square meters for growing giant pumpkins, ideally around 20-25 square meters.

Ripening time: 125 days.

Strong vigorous vine.

Bred to record size, edible but not delicate.

This variety grows well in warm, well-drained soils.

Pre-cultivation and planting with sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the climbing behavior.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.

 

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
