Cucurbita moschata Dickenson

Cucurbita moschata Dickenson

This variety is often grown for industry because of its massive pulp.

Dickenson is 8-12 kg, heavy nutmeg, roundish-elongated with excellent pulp. The shape, color and slight ribbing also make it very attractive, but unfortunately it requires warmth.

Ripening time: 120 days.

Strong vining behavior.

Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the vining behavior.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
