Cucurbita moschata Kikuza

Cucurbita moschata Kikuza

Beautiful, ribbed nutmeg, initially light green, then fully ripe ocher.

Kikuza is a true gem among the moskat. It changes color from light green to terracotta and is extremely interesting in each of these color levels. The fruits weigh around 1-2 kg and are excellent in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, Kikuza requires some warmth and has to be pre-cultivated in Central Europe.

Ripening time: 125 days.

Moderate vining behavior.

Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the vining behavior.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.
