Cucurbita moschata Nectar

Cucurbita moschata Nectar

Butternut with very dark flesh.

Nectar is a sister variety to Beja with more uniform fruits and vigorous plants. The fruits, which change color from dark green to ocher, weigh about 2 kg and contain the popular, darker flesh with a higher carotene content.

Like the other dark butternuts, Nectar requires warmth and thrives reliably with pre-cultivation and planting in warm locations.

Ripening time: 110 days.

Nectar vines strongly.

Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

For Nectar we recommend 2 square meters per plant.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
