Cucurbita maxima Blue Hubbard

A classic among the Hubbards.

Blue Hubbard is teardrop-shaped, grey-blue and usually very decoratively grooved. The weight is between 4 and 12 kg, usually 6-8 kg.

Very decorative and rightly popular in American cuisine, a pumpkin with a long shelf life.

Ripening time: 90 days.

Blue Hubbard vines strongly.

This variety grows well in warm, well-drained soils.

Pre-cultivation and planting with sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

For Blue Hubbard we recommend 2 square meters of space per plant.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.

 

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
