Cucumis metuliferus Kiwano

Kiwano, also known as horn cucumber, are well-known, aromatic fruits from the cucumber family.

Horned cucumbers are not only attractive for decoration because of their shape and color, they are also popular to eat.

The taste is reminiscent of a mixture of banana, cucumber and lime.

Harvested when ripe, Kiwanos can be kept for a few weeks, but as a cucumber plant they do not belong in the refrigerator.

The seeds are sown under glass in early April at 22-25 ° C directly with a grain in small pots, which, as with pumpkins, do not keep the pots too wet.

The culture of Kiwanos is similar to the culture of cucumbers and melons.

Kiwanos like warm locations and can also be grown in a greenhouse. They can also be cultivated in a uptied manner.
