Lagenaria siceraria Plate de Corse

Lagenaria siceraria Plate de Corse

Flat-round, light green calabash.

Plate de Corse, also known as Corsican, is somewhat reminiscent of a wheel of cheese in shape.

The flat-round fruits, about 20 – 25 cm in diameter, are light green.

Tip: Prune the plant after 3 pairs of real leaves, this results in female flowers 2 weeks earlier and consequently earlier fruit set.

Ripening time: about 120 days.

Plate de Corse ranks strongly.

Lagenaria can also be used young in the kitchen.

Calabashes grow well on warm, well-drained soils, pre-cultivation and planting with sowing from the end of April gives good results.

High cultivation yields straight fruits, soil culture produces interesting shapes.

For Plate de Corse we recommend 3-4 square meters per plant.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.
