Citrullus lanatus (Watermelon) Golden Midget
Citrullus lanatus (Watermelon) Golden Midget
Very early, small watermelon with yellow skin.
One of the earliest watermelons is this American variety from 1959.
The yellow-skinned fruits are only around 1 to 1.5 kg in size and contain red pulp with the typical aroma, but slightly less sweetness.
With a harvest that begins just 70 to 75 days after sowing and the yellow color that fully indicates ripeness, this compact variety is certainly an asset to any garden.
The harvest success and the sugar content of the fruits depend on warmth and sun. Melons need a warm location.
Melons grow moderately and require around 1-2 square meters per plant.
Melons enjoy a mulching film.
In a nice and warm summer, the pulp contains more sugar than in a cold summer.
The seeds are sown indoors from the beginning of April at 24-28 ° C directly with 1-2 seeds in the small pot (do not keep the pots too moist) or from mid-May outdoors in a warm location.
Possible pests: lice, mice, powdery mildew, mildew, viral diseases.
Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
