Cucurbita moschata Black Futsu
Variety originally from Japan.
Black Futsu is a very beautiful, long-lasting nutmeg pumpkin, somewhat variable in size, weighing between 1-3.5 kg.
It changes color from dark green to terracotta and is a little earlier than, for example, Mucade de Provence.
The fruits store very well and are great in the kitchen.
Ripening time: 120 days.
Trailing behavior: moderate.
Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.
Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the trailing behavior.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.
Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
