Cucurbita moschata Bush Butternut

Cucurbita moschata Bush Butternut

Very compact, small butternut.

This selection, which we have continued, is one of the few low-ranking C. moschata in the world.

The fruits will only weigh around 500-1,000 gram and are therefore a good portion size due to the massive pulp content.

Due to its unique, compact growth habit, this variety can be found in the pedigree of many new, compact-growing varieties.

Ripening time: 100 days.

Trailing behavior: moderate.

Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the trailing behavior.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
