Cucurbita moschata Lunga di Napoli
Cucurbita moschata Lunga di Napoli
Green moschata with lighter stripes, unusually large size.
The well-known Italian variety is practically a giant butternut, weighing 6-15 kg, in exceptional cases up to over 20 kg.
Lunga di Napoli is a top edible pumpkin, massive flesh, dark orange and very firm.
For cultivation in Central Europe, pre-cultivation is recommended in order to harvest fruit that is as fully ripe as possible.
Ripening time: 120 days.
Moderate trailing behavior
Cucurbita moschata require a lot of heat and is therefore better to be pre-cultivated. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in cold regions.
Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the trailing behavior.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.
Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
