Cucurbita pepo Coronation F1

Cucurbita pepo Coronation F1

Decorative, patisson-like fruits in golden orange.

An unusual variety is Coronation F1. Actually a patisson, it can be eaten from young to mature, as this variety only reveals its true potential as a decorative pumpkin when fully mature.

The deep orange colored fruits are very unusual in shape, widening upwards in a trapezoid shape. The plants produce lots of healthy and long-lasting fruits on short tendrils.

At around 15 cm, the first fruits are about twice as large as those that later form on the tendrils.

Coronation can be eaten from young to mature, but also has a high decorative value.

Ripening time: 90 days.

Coronation F1 grows compactly, climbing.

C. pepo grows well on warm, well-drained soils, pre-cultivation and planting with sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.

Optimum germination at 24-30o C. When sowing stick the pointed side of the seed down or lay them flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place in a brighter and cooler place.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the climbing behavior.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, lice, powdery mildew, virus.
