Daucus carota (Carrot) Gniff BIO

Daucus carota (Carrot) Gniff BIO

A speciality from the Swiss Ticino.

Gniff produces short, blunt carrots with a length of around 10-15 cm. The short carrots are purple on the outside and white on the inside, and look very attractive when cut open. The purple fades a little when cooked. Gniff is very easy to store; as a late variety, it should be sown by the beginning of June. Thin out again later in the cultivation process, as it is very vigorous and produces a lot of foliage.

Sow directly outdoors, sowing depth 0.5 cm. Row spacing: 30-40 cm, in the row 6-8 cm. To protect against carrot flies, choose open, windy locations or cover with nets, no fresh fertilization. Carrots love sunny locations and light, permeable, nutrient-rich soils. The harvest takes place from August to October.

Only grow carrots in the same place every 6 years. Grows well with corn, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and potatoes.

Supplied as raw (normal) seed.
