Passiflora edulis, commonly known as passion fruit, is a vine species of passion flower, native to the southern region of southern America.

A very rewarded flower and the fruits grow to 5 cm long and 4 cm wide and are edible. The color of the fruit is purple and it tastes fresh and sweet. The passion fruit can be cut in half and then consumed with a spoon.

The Passiflora edulis is self-pollinating, from the second year onwards young plants get their first flowers. Provide the Passiflora edulis with timely fertilization from spring and throughout the summer. The flower of the Passiflora edulis is pink/purple in color which transitions to white.

The leaf is 3 lobed and up to 20-25 cm in size. It sits on green hairless stems that can grow up to over 8 meters long. By pruning the passion plant can be kept in good order. The passion fruit can overwinter without any problems in a cold greenhouse or on a windowsill. If the plant becomes too large, cut away the excess foliage and leave at least 30 cm or more. The plant will sprout again in the spring. Winter hardiness +5ºC.
