Passiflora quadrangularis

Passiflora quadrangularis, commonly known as giant granadilla, is a vine species of passion flower, native to the southern region of southern America.

It is a vigorous, tender evergreen perennial climber with nodding red flowers, each surrounded by white and purple filaments.

It has smooth, cordate, ovate leaves, scented flowers and a large, oblong fruit, up to 30 cm (12”) in length containing numerous seeds, embedded in an edible pulp.

Grown for its fruits but usually grown as an ornamental. Requiring a minimum temperature of 8 °C (46 °F), in temperate zones it must be grown under glass.

It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit undefined.

The giant passion flower is the largest among the passion flowers and can grow up to 15 meters per year.
