‘Asparagus’ beans are very eye-catching with their green pods, which are up to 60 cm long. They should only be cultivated in really warm locations. If the conditions are right, the young pods, which taste sweeter than runner beans, can be prepared in the same way. They can also be frozen.
Asparagus beans come from Asia, grow up to 100 cm long and are very popular. Metro Black has black beans. The plants are very vigorous and require climbing support.
