Pisum sativum (Gray pea) Blauwschokker BIO

Pisum sativum (Gray pea) Blauwschokker BIO

Historic gray peas with blue pods.  With historical origins in East Frisia, this variety is a specialty of hearty, rural cuisine.

The plants are similar in culture to peas, but bloom purple and impress with their dark pods, which can be harvested young as sugar peas. The peas, on the other hand, are green and taste pleasantly sweet when fresh and can be stored for a long time when dry and are excellent to use as a side dish or in soup.

Sowing takes place at the end of March/beginning of April as direct sowing at a distance of 40-50 cm, in rows 4-5 cm, sowing depth 3-4 cm.

Harvest period: from June to July. The plant height is about 80 cm.

As a rule, peas require little or no fertilization.

Supplied as raw (normal) seed in grams.
Approximately 4-5 seeds per gram.
