This interesting egg fruit originally comes from West Africa.

This form of Solanum/aubergine is a popular vegetable, especially on the Ivory Coast, but here the ornamental value of the fruit is particularly noteworthy in autumn.

The round fruits, reminiscent of pumpkins, turn from green to red.

Plant out from mid-May in warm locations, cultivation in a greenhouse is possible.

Harvest from the end of August.

Plant grows about 60-80 cm tall and compact. Pretty, long-lasting decorative fruits.

Sowing with pre-culture from the end of February.

Planting in a greenhouse or outdoors from May.
