Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Rotkäppchen

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Rotkäppchen

Red bush tomato that is ideal for balconies.

Rotkäppchen, like the Harzfeuer variety, a variety from GDR times, is a weak-growing, compact bush tomato, very suitable for balconies and containers.

The fruits weigh around 40-50 grams and are typically tomato red. This variety does not necessarily have to be pruned. However, it should definitely be given rain protection outdoors.

Sow at 20-25° C from February to the end of March, then pre-cultivate from February to April, plant outdoors after the last frost. The harvest takes place from the end of July to September

Tomatoes love sunny and wind-protected locations. The soil should be loose, humus-rich and nutrient-rich.

Tomato plants have high water needs. Never water the plants with tap-cold water. The water should at least be at room temperature. Always ensure that the leaves remain dry so that tomato rot has less chance.
